Does IPVanish work with CBS (and CBS All Access?)

Would you like to enjoy CBS abroad? There are lots of programs available for free at the CBS website, so why not go ahead and stream some of the newest episodes of your favorite shows? It is very easy, and you do not even need to register a user at the website for this to work. But, what if you want to use a VPN to secure your Internet connection, or what if you are abroad and want to bypass the geoblocks telling you that CBS can only be streamed in the USA? Is IPVanish a good VPN for this purpose?

If you try to stream CBS abroad, you might seen an error looking something like this.

can i use IPVanish with CBS?
This video isn’t available in your region – a typical CBS error message.

You are not alone if you see the error message above! Many people actually discover this website as they search Google for information on the error message saying “Oops! This video isn’t available in your region.” But, what can be done? Is IPVanish a solution?

What is IPVanish?
IPVanish is a VPN provider. A VPN is a tool, a way to encrypt your online activity. When you use a VPN, all your data is encrypted, making it much harder for outsiders to see what you are doing and to spy on your activities. When you connect to a VPN server, all data is run through the server, and thus, it will also change your IP address online. If you have an IPVanish subscription and connect to a server in the USA, you will get an American IP address. As a result, CBS should also believe that you are in the USA and allow you to stream CBS All Access. But, is that so?

If you want to learn more about IPVanish, I can warmly recommend the following IPVanish review.

CBS and IPVanish – A good combination or not?

IPVanish reminds me a bit of an old refrigerator that worked well ten years ago, and it still does. But, it also lacks some of the functions that newer refrigderators have, simply because it is old! And due to its age, IPVanish has an application that looks a bit old-fashioned, and they haven’t updated their server park a lot recently. That is why I actually expected IPVanish to be blocked by CBS. What would that mean? Well, it would mean that CBS is blocking the IP addresses used by IPVanish, simply because they know about them and want to hinder people from streaming CBS abroad.

But, that isn’t so!

IPVanish has servers in more than 70 countries, and lots of servers in the different countries. With a subscription, you can easily connect to all of those and they have no bandwidth limitations.

So, I simply opened the application and connected to a server in the USA. I quickly got my American IP address and headed over to the CBS website. And guess what? It worked at once! I could stream the most recent episode of Bull for free at the CBS website. And considering that it worked on the normal CBS website, it also works with CBS All Access.

Is IPVanish the best VPN for CBS?

If your sole purpose is to stream CBS, then IPVanish is a good choice. But, if you want to take advantage of your VPN subscription and maybe stream Hulu, Amazon Prime, PeacockTV, and HBO Max abroad, then you might want to look for a different provider.

If you want to watch Netflix content in 4-5 different countries (in addition to American Netflix which is supported by IPVanish), then you should also consider using a different VPN.
